Veggie Garden 101 Workshop
Learn the essentials of growing your own food. We'll cover everything step-by-step and ensure you are ready to start your garden and be successful!

Time: 12 pm to 3 pm (maybe a bit longer)

Cost: $45 per attendee
Class size limited to 15 people / Held rain or shine
Workshop will be held outside under heated tents. We will walk around the property to discuss concepts in real time. Wear good shoes and warm clothes.
1. Site Selection
We’ll discuss where to site your garden, raised beds, containers, garden size, lawn removal, and pest/critter prevention.
2. Soil / Amendments
Even if your soil isn’t perfect, we’ll discuss how to work with what you have and make it better. We’ll be discussing organic and sustainable methods.
3. Maintenance / Weeds
We’ll talk about ways to stay on top of garden maintenance, including weeds, watering, and pests. Only natural methods will be considered.
4. Plan Your Garden
There are many ways to layout your garden, we’ll be discussing concepts such as interplanting, companion plantings and others.
5. Grow / Harvest
What should you plant? Some crops are best grown in cold weather and others love the heat! This is where we’ll talk about each crop.
6. Record Keeping
Gardeners learn from their mistakes. Keeping records will help you remember what went well and what you want to change for next year.
7. End of Season
It’s time to put the beds to rest for the winter…. or is it? You’ll learn the easiest way to protect your soil…and ways to extend the harvest.
8. Detailed Grow Guide
Included in this workshop is a take-home guide of all topics covered, including a detailed grow/harvest guide for most common crops.
9. Community
While gardening is mostly a solo endeavor, it lends itself well to community, learning, and sharing. This will be an open discussion.
